Jianchuan County is located in the northwest of Yunnan Province and the north of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. The county is 58 kilometers from the east to the west and 55 kilometers from the south to the north, with a total area of 2250 square kilometers. The scenic spots and historic sites include the stone cliff of Shizhong Temple, a stone inscription in the Tang Dynasty, a national key cultural relics protection unit, the provincial cultural relics protection unit, the King of Heaven, the Baohe Temple, and the Shibao Mountain National Scenic Spot. On January 22, 2020, it was named the National Garden County by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. On May 17, 2020, it officially withdrew from the poverty county sequence.
