Lanping Bai and Pumi Autonomous County (Lanping County) is subordinate to Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. It is located in the longitudinal valley of Hengduan Mountain in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, bordering the Lisu Autonomous County of Weixi in the north, Yulong Naxi Autonomous County in the northeast, Jianchuan County in the southeast, Yunlong County in the south, and Lushui City and Fugong County in the west. The county covers an area of 4371.2 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 4 townships, 4 towns and 108 village committees (including 7 communities). There are 14 ethnic groups living in the territory, including Bai, Pumi, Nu, Tibetan, Han, Lisu and Yi. It is the only Bai and Pumi autonomous county in China. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Lanping County was 195874.

Lanping Bai and Pumi Autonomous County is located in the core area of the world natural heritage of the "three parallel rivers" of the Nu River, Lancang River and Jinsha River in the southwest of China. Geography and transportation radiate to the surrounding counties of the "Three Parallel Rivers" national scenic spot in a star shape. It is the central node and main entrance of the tourism circle of four places and ten counties in western Yunnan, and naturally becomes the central post station of the tourism channel in the "Three Parallel Rivers" area. Lanping is rich in forest and biological resources. The huge lead-zinc mine located in the Phoenix Mountain in Jinding has a proven reserves of 14.29 million tons, ranking first in Asia and second in the world. Therefore, Lanping is also known as China's "green zinc capital".

In 2020, Lanping County's GDP reached 8.86 billion yuan, up 13.83% year on year.
