Nyalam County is under the jurisdiction of Xigaze City, Tibet Autonomous Region. It lies between the Himalayas and Lalougangri Mountain. It borders Dingri County, Angren County, Sagar County and Jilong County on the east, north and west, and borders Nepal on the south. It has an area of 7,863.92 square kilometers. Nyalam County has gold, gems, lead, coal and other mineral resources. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Nyalam county was 17,009.
On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce.
In 2020, the GDP of Nyalam County reached 100.28 million yuan, an increase of 8.1 percent year on year.
In 2017, Nyalam County was removed from poverty.
