Nairong County is a county under the jurisdiction of Nagqu City of Tibet Autonomous Region, located in the north of Tibet Autonomous Region, the southern foot of Tanggula Mountain, the hinterland of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the border with Qinghai Province. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The average elevation is about 4700 meters above sea level. The territory of mountains undulating, gully, northwest some peaks perennial snow, central and southern peaks relative height difference is large, low hills and valleys scattered alternate.

Nyarong County has jurisdiction over 1 district, 9 townships and 173 villages. An area of 8991 square kilometers, including available grassland area of 18 million mu. In 2019, the registered population of Nyarong County was 38,341. As of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Nyarong County is 35,163.
