Ansai county/District, subordinate to Yan 'an, Shanxi Province, is located in the hinterland of the inland Loess Plateau, the edge of Ordos Basin, located in the north of Shanxi Province, the north of Yan 'an City, adjacent to Zhidan County in the west, Jingbian County, Yulin City in the north, Zichang City in the east, and Ganquan County and Baota District in the south. Between east longitude 108°5 '44 "-- 109°26' 18", north latitude 36°30 '45 "-- 37°19' 3", the total area of 2950 square kilometers, accounting for 8.04% of the total area of Yan 'an City. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Ansai District was 163,165 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

Ansai has been known as "Shangjun Throat" since ancient times. It is located in a cultural integration zone where the Central Plains national culture represented by Yangshao culture develops northward and the northern national culture represented by Yinshan rock painting culture develops southward. Through cultural changes in successive dynasties, a unique art system and shape system has been formed. It has become one of the regions with the best preserved culture, the most concentrated folk art and the most representative folk art in Northwest China.

In 2021, Ansai District will achieve a gross regional product of 14.572 billion yuan. The added value of the primary industry is 1.956 billion yuan, that of the secondary industry is 9.602 billion yuan and that of the tertiary industry is 3.014 billion yuan. The industrial composition ratio is 13.4% : 65.9% : 20.7% respectively.
