Mizhi County belongs to Yulin City of Shanxi Province. Known as "Yinzhou" in ancient times, it is located in the middle reaches of Wuding River in the central and eastern part of Yulin City, Shanxi Province. Yuyang District in the north, Suide County in the south, Jia County in the east, Hengshan District and Zizhou County in the west. Rice lipid is known as "culture county, hero county, beauty county". The county is 59 kilometers long from east to west and 47 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total land area of 1212 square kilometers. The county has jurisdiction over 8 towns, 1 street office, 206 administrative villages, 5 communities. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Mizhi County was 141,324 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

Mizhi County is Yulin City energy salt chemical base. Rice fat mineral resources are rich, especially rock salt resources proved reserves of 1.3-1.8 trillion tons, accounting for 17% of the country's total reserves, natural gas resources are widely distributed, proved controlled reserves of 138.2 billion cubic meters.

Mizhi County is a national key ecological functional area with vegetation coverage rate of 42%. The comprehensive water conservation management of Gaoxigou County is praised as "a pearl on the Loess Plateau in northern Shanxi". The small watershed management mode of Duocha village is called a world-class governance model by FAO. The "Mengcha mode" formed through land transfer is a model of modern agricultural development in Yulin and even Shanxi Province.

In March 2019, it was listed as the first batch of counties under the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On May 7, the Shanxi provincial People's government approved Mizhi County's removal from the poverty-stricken county list. On December 25, it was selected as "National Model County of Rural Vocational Education and Adult Education (the fifth batch)". On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of towns (counties) reconfirmed as National Health Care in 2019.

In 2020, Mizhi County's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 6.287 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 0.1%.
