Wushan County, under the jurisdiction of Tianshui City, Gansu Province, is located in the southeast of Gansu Province and the west of Tianshui City. It is located in the compound zone of the western part of the northern slope of the Qinling Mountains and the southwest edge of the Loess Plateau in the middle of Gansu Province. It belongs to the temperate continental semi-humid monsoon climate, adjacent to six counties, with a total area of 2011 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Wushan County has jurisdiction over 13 towns and 2 townships. By the end of 2020, the total population of Wushan County was 468000.

Wushan is named after Wucheng Mountain in the southwest of the county seat. In the year of Qin Xiao's reign (361 BC), the Liao tribe, the "Liao King of the West Chopping Rong", was exterminated and took its name as the place name; During the Three Kingdoms Period, Wei changed its name to Wucheng County, which was soon abolished and renamed Xinxing County; In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the name of Genningyuan County was Wushan County, which is the beginning of this name; In October 1969, it belonged to Tianshui region; In July 1985, it belonged to Tianshui City.

The main scenic spots in Wushan County include Wushan Water Curtain Cave, Wushan Vegetable Science and Technology Demonstration Park, Muti Temple and Woniushan Forest Park. On June 30, 2020, Wushan County was selected as "the second batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization districts and counties". On November 3, 2021, Wushan County was selected as "the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art in 2021-2023". On April 21, 2022, Wushan County was selected into the "list of counties (cities, districts, and banners) recognized through the national supervision and evaluation of balanced development of compulsory education in 2021".

In 2022, the gross regional product (GDP) of Wushan County will reach 7.54 billion yuan, up 6% year on year; The general public budget revenue is 263 million yuan; The total retail sales of consumer goods reached 2.92 billion yuan, up 2% year on year; The total investment in fixed assets was 6.34 billion yuan, up 18.5% year on year; The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 32731 yuan and 11523 yuan, up 9% and 10% respectively.
