Chengduo County, under the Qinghai Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, located in the central part of Qinghai Province. It borders Qumalai County in the north and west, Shiqu County in Sichuan Province in the southeast, and Yushu County in the southwest across the Tongtian River. The territory is 160.25 kilometers wide from east to west and 209.25 kilometers long from north to south. The total area of the county is about 15,300 square kilometers.

By the end of 2020, Chengduo County has a total population of 67,000, including 56,400 farming and animal husbandry people and 10,600 urban residents, with Tibetans accounting for more than 98 percent. There are the Wenbao, the Labu, the Karna, the Huma, the Bai Maima, the ANI and other ethnic minorities.
