Zepu County, short for "Zepleshan", is named after Zepleshan River. It belongs to the Kashgar region of Xinjiang, and is located in the southwest of Xinjiang, at the northern foot of the Kunlun Mountains, on the eastern side of the Karakoram Mountains, and on the western edge of the Taklimakan Desert. It is bounded by the Yerqiang River in the west, facing Shache County, bordering Yecheng County across the Tiznav River in the east and southeast, and bordering Yecheng County in the southwest. It is a typical desert oasis landform. The administrative area is 988 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, the registered residence of Zepu County was 225661, including 19 ethnic groups such as Uygur, Han, Tajik and Hui, and the minority population accounted for 77%.

In 2019, the regional GDP of Zepu County was 4461.31 million yuan, the added value of the primary industry was 1699.17 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 607.84 million yuan, the general public budget revenue was 262.74 million yuan, and the general public budget expenditure was 268.06 million yuan.
