Chifeng, formerly known as Zhaoda League, is a prefection-level city under the jurisdiction of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is located in the southeast of Inner Mongolia, at the intersection of Mongolian, Hebei and Liaoning provinces. It borders Chaoyang in the southeast, Chengde in the southwest, Tongliao in the east, and Xilin Gol League in the northwest. Located in the inland, is a temperate semi-arid continental monsoon climate area; The total area of the city is 90021 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 3 districts, 7 flags and 2 counties; By the end of 2021, the city has a permanent resident population of 4.019 million.

Chifeng, which means Red mountain, is named after the ochre red peak in the northeastern part of the city. "Ulan Hada" in Mongolian, is located in the junction of northeast and North China, with superior location and convenient transportation. It is an important node city of the capital economic circle and the Bohai economic Circle, and the closest city to the sea in Inner Mongolia. There are 50 national cultural relic protection units in Chifeng city and 8 cultures named after local place names. Because of the discovery of the "national treasure" of Hongshan culture, Chifeng is also known as the "Hometown of Jade Dragon".

Chifeng region was once the political, economic and cultural center of Liao Dynasty. The Upper capital of Liao Dynasty and the Middle capital of Liao Dynasty were located in Balin Left Banner and Ningcheng County respectively. In December 2018, Chifeng was identified as the advantage area of the second batch of agricultural products with Chinese characteristics. On August 13, 2019, it was selected as a pilot city for the construction of national urban medical consortium. In October 2020, it was rated as the national model city (county) of double support.

In 2021, the GDP of Chifeng was 19.751 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7% over the previous year at constant prices.
