Chifeng, formerly known as Zhaoda League, is a prefection-level city under the jurisdiction of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is located in the southeast of Inner Mongolia, at the intersection of Mongolian, Hebei and Liaoning provinces. It borders Chaoyang in the southeast, Chengde in the southwest, Tongliao in the east, and Xilin Gol League in the northwest. Chifeng region was once the political, economic and cultural center of Liao Dynasty. The Upper capital of Liao Dynasty and the Middle capital of Liao Dynasty were located in Balin Left Banner and Ningcheng County respectively. In December 2018, Chifeng was identified as the advantage area of the second batch of agricultural products with Chinese characteristics. On August 13, 2019, it was selected as a pilot city for the construction of national urban medical consortium. In October 2020, it was rated as the national model city (county) of double support.
