Dalian, also known as the Bincheng and Romantic City, is a prefecture level city, a sub provincial city, a city specifically designated in the state plan and a megacity under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, an important central city, port and scenic tourist city in northern coastal China approved by the State Council, and a central city in the coastal economic belt of Liaoning Province. Dalian has jurisdiction over 7 districts, 1 county and 2 county-level cities, with a total area of 12574 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh census, the permanent population of Dalian is 7450785. In 2021, Dalian will achieve a GDP of 782.59 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2% year on year.

Dalian is an important port, industry, trade, finance and tourism city in China, an international shipping center, an international logistics center, an international trade center and a regional financial center in Northeast Asia, and a window for Northeast China to open to the outside world.
