Wuzhong City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is located in the central part of Ningxia. It used to be the headquarters of Gulingzhou City and Jinji County. It is located in the hinterland of Ningxia Plain, high in the south and low in the north. The city covers a total area of 21,400 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 2 districts, 1 city and 2 counties. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Wuzhong was 1,382,713.

Wuzhong City has been an important passage of the Silk Road since ancient times, an important node city of the New Silk Road Economic belt, and a regional trading city along the new Eurasian Land Bridge. The territory has dense network and convenient transportation, with 4 railways and 5 expressways running through the city. Wuzhong Hub station of Wuzhong Intercity Railway from Wuzhong to Zhongwei and Yinxi high-speed Railway is under construction, 40 kilometers away from Yinchuan Hedong Airport. Scenic spots such as Haba Lake, Luoshan National Nature Reserve, Yellow River Grand Canyon, Bird Island in Reservoir area, and Chinese Yellow River Altar and Yellow River Tower are unique in the territory.

In 2022, the GDP of Wuzhong reached 86.703 billion yuan, ranking the second in the region and accounting for 17.1% of the total GDP of the region.
