Xuancheng City, referred to as Xuancheng and Xuanzhou in ancient times, is a prefectural city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province. It is a city in the central region of the Yangtze River Delta. It is located in the southeast of Anhui Province, adjacent to Jiangsu and Zhejiang, close to Shanghai and Hangzhou, and located in the transition zone between the southeastern hills and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River plain. With a total area of 12,340 square kilometers, Xuancheng has jurisdiction over 1 district, 4 counties and 2 county-level cities by the end of 2021. By the end of 2021, Xuancheng's permanent population was 2.487 million.

Xuanxeng City is the only city in Anhui Province bordering Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. It is the city of Nanjing metropolitan area, the central city of G60 Science and Technology Innovation corridor, and an important transportation hub in southeast Anhui Province. Danyang County was set up here in the Western Han Dynasty in 109 BC. It was the county, prefecture, prefecture and road administration in successive dynasties.
