Aohan Banner

Aohan Banner, under the Inner Mongolia Chifeng City. It is located at the northern foot of Nuerhu Mountains and the southern edge of Horqin Sandy Land. It is adjacent to Naiman Banner of Tongliao City in the east, Jianping County of Chaoyang City in the west, Beipiao City and Chaoyang County in the south, and Wengniute Banner of Chifeng City across the Laoha River in the north. The total land area of the Banner is 8,300 square kilometers. Resident in Xinhui Town, according to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Aohan Banner is 448,712 people.

Aokhan, originally a Mongolian tribal name, is translated as "eldest brother" in Mongolian. It is a famous county of cultural relics in China. There are more than 4,000 ancient sites of different periods scattered across an area of 8,300 square kilometers. Four prehistoric cultures, namely Xiaohexi culture, Xinglongwa culture, Zhaobaogou culture and XiaoHeyan culture, were found and named in Aohan. Aohan Banner is also a famous agricultural county. In GuluBanhao Township, there is Hongshan Reservoir, the largest reservoir in Northeast China, which is the most important water conservancy project in West Liaohe River Basin. Aquatic products produced by Hongshanshui Reservoir are exported to Beijing, Shenyang, Jinzhou, Tongliao and other large and medium-sized cities. Changsheng and Shuangjing in the north are the main buckwheat producing areas in Chifeng City. Mountain cereals produced in the south sell well at home and abroad. In March 2020, the government of the autonomous region agreed to withdraw from the poverty-stricken flag county sequence.

In 2020, the gross regional product of Aohan Banner reached 14.66 billion yuan, up 2.2 percent year on year.
