Beizhen City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, is managed by Jinzhou City. It is located in the west of Liaoning Province, at the eastern foot of Yiwulu. Beizhen area had human activities in the Neolithic Age. In the Liao Dynasty, Beizhen was under the jurisdiction of Tokyo Road, and two prefectures were set up in the territory, namely, Qian and Xian. In the Jin Dynasty, the Shengxian Prefecture was called Guangning Prefecture, and the lower one was the four counties of Guangning, Tongyang, Zhongxiu and Wangping. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), because of the same name as Guangning County, Guangdong Province, it was renamed Beizhen County (Lushan is one of the five ancient towns, named after "Beizhen Mountain"), belonging to Liaoshen Road, Fengtian Province. On March 21, 1995, with the approval of the State Council, Beizhen Manchu Autonomous County was changed into Beining City. On February 8, 2006, with the approval of the State Council, Beining City was changed into Beizhen City. National Highway 102 and the Beijing Shenyang Railway cross Beizhen from east to west.
