Binhai County, a county under the jurisdiction of Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the northeast of Yancheng City, bordering the Yellow Sea in the east, with an area of 1949.60 square kilometers. It is named for its proximity to the Yellow Sea. The name of Binhai County was changed from Chaonan County in May of the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942). In November 1949, Fudong County and Binhai County merged into a new Binhai County. In March 1966, it was divided into Binhai County and Xiangshui County. In March 1983, the system of city governing county was implemented, and Binhai County was subordinate to Yancheng City. On January 22, 2020, Binhai County was named the National Garden County by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. On July 29, 2020, Binhai County was included in the naming list of national health towns (counties) in the 2017-2019 cycle.
