Boai County, under the jurisdiction of Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, is located at the south foot of Taihang Mountains, in the northwest of Jiaozuo City, and adjacent to Zezhou County, Jincheng City in the north. It borders Jiaozuo City and Wuzhi County in the east, Qinyang City across the Danhe River in the west, and Wenxian County across the Qinhe River in the south. The total administrative area is 435 square kilometers. By the end of 2020, the permanent population of Boai County is 400000.

In the Xia Dynasty, the territory of Qinhuai in Jizhou was established, which belonged to "Qinhuai Land". In August of the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927), Feng Yuxiang took charge of Yu Shi. According to the petition of General Ji Hongchang, he divided the area to the east of Danhe River in the northeast of Qinyang County, added Boai County, and governed Qinghua Town directly under the jurisdiction of Henan Province. On September 1, 1983, Xinxiang District was cancelled, and Boai County has been under the jurisdiction of Jiaozuo City since then. As of October 2021, Boai County has jurisdiction over 2 streets, 5 towns, 2 townships and 1 township level unit. The county people's government is located in Zhongshan Road, the street of Qinghua Town.

By 2021, the general public budget revenue of Boai County has remained above 1 billion yuan for three consecutive years, an increase of 34% over 2016. The per capita disposable income of urban residents increased from 26000 yuan in 2016 to 35000 yuan, an increase of 35%; The per capita disposable income of rural residents increased from 14000 yuan in 2016 to 21000 yuan, an increase of 50%.

On January 22, 2020, it was named National Garden County by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development. On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of reconfirmed national health towns (counties) in 2019.
