Chishui City, administered by Zunyi City, is a county-level city in Guizhou Province. It is located in the middle and lower reaches of Chishui River in the northwest of Guizhou Province, between 105°36 'to 106°14' east longitude and 28°15 'to 45' north latitude. It borders Xishui County in Guizhou Province in the southeast and Gulin County, Xuyong County and Hejiang County in Sichuan Province in the northwest. It is 225 kilometers away from Zunyi, 377 kilometers away from Guiyang, 172 kilometers away from Chongqing, 293 kilometers away from Chengdu, 40 kilometers away from Luzhou, with a total area of 1852 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Chishui was 247,287.

In 2018, Chishui has jurisdiction over 3 sub-district offices, 11 towns and 3 townships. It has been awarded the honorary titles of "China Excellent Tourism City", "National Ecological Construction Demonstration Zone", "International Leisure Tourism City", "National Ecological City" and "Guizhou Forest City". In June 2017, Chishui was named a National Sanitary City. In October 2017, Chishui was the first poverty-stricken county in Guizhou Province to pass the national examination and acceptance and be officially approved by the provincial people's government to quit. In 2019, the annual gross regional product (GDP) of Chishui reached 10.055 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5% over the previous year (the same below).

Chishui belongs to the Luzhou Community of Sichuan Tai-ao and Sichuan Basin subdivisions. Chishui River is the largest river in the territory. The city is a subtropical humid monsoon climate zone with warm winter and early spring and less sunshine throughout the year. Chishui has subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest native vegetation belt, one World Natural Heritage site, one national scenic area, two national forest parks, two national nature reserves, one national geopark, and two national 4A scenic spots.

On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce. On December 12, 2018, it was named as the second batch of practice and innovation base of "Lucid waters and lush Mountains are Golden Hills and silver Mountains". May 14, 2019, won the 10th China Environmental Award. In September 2019, it was selected as one of the first national tourism demonstration zones.
