Cixi, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province, is a type II large city administered by Ningbo City. It was named for the stream in the south and Dong An's "kindness of mother and filial piety of son" in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Cixi is located on the coast of the East China Sea, the south bank of Hangzhou Bay, 60 kilometers from Ningbo in the east, 148 kilometers from Shanghai in the north and 138 kilometers from Hangzhou in the west. It is an important industrial and commercial city in the south wing of the greater Shanghai economic Circle in the Yangtze River Delta region, and also one of the coastal economic open zones approved by The State Council. With a long celadon culture, it is one of the main birthplaces of Yue Kiln celadon and an important starting point of "the Road of maritime ceramics". Yue Kiln celadon has established the pattern of "green in the south and white in the north" of Chinese ceramics.

It is the National Civilized City, the National Garden City, the National Health City, the most happy City in China, the pilot county (city) of China County economic informatization, the national pilot area of comprehensive reform of small and medium-sized cities, and one of the first pilot areas of Zhejiang high-quality development and construction of common prosperity Demonstration zone.
