Congjiang County belongs to Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. It is located in the southeast of Guizhou Province, bordering Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County of Liuzhou City in the east, Rongshui Miao Autonomous County of Liuzhou City in the south, Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County of Hechi City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Libo County and Rongjiang County in the west, Liping County in the north, and the middle reaches of the Liujiang River in Judu, 450 kilometers away from the provincial capital Guiyang. It is 252 kilometers away from Kaili, the state capital, 280 kilometers away from Liuzhou, 286 kilometers away from Guilin, 600 kilometers away from Beihai Port, covering an area of 3245 square kilometers. The main ethnic groups are Miao, Dong, Zhuang, Yao, Shui and other ethnic minorities. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Congjiang county was 313,887.

In 2020, the GDP of Congjiang County reached 7.37 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 5.7%.

In Congjiang County, there are Xiaohuang Village of Gaozeng Township named by the Ministry of Culture as the "Hometown of Chinese folk culture and art", Zhanli Village of Gaozeng Township known as the "Paradise of Xanadu", and Zengchong Drum Tower of Xiangdong Township listed as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the state.
