Dahua Yao Autonomous County, under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Hechi City. Founded in October 1988, Dahua Yao Autonomous County is located in the middle reaches of Hongshui River in the northwest of central Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It consists of the marginal junction of Du 'an Yao Autonomous County, Bama Yao Autonomous County and Nanning region in the Hexi Region at that time. Dahua Yao Autonomous County covers an area of 2,716 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 12 townships, 4 towns and 160 administrative villages (communities). By the end of 2021, the permanent population of Dahua Yao Autonomous County was 365,000.
Dahua Yao Autonomous County is not only the hometown of Yao culture in the world, but also the hometown of ornamental stones in China. The Dahua colored jade discovered in the 1990s is famous for its fine skin, brilliant color, hard quality and different shape. This new kind of stone has become the most popular and valuable ornamental stone in China today. In October 2007, it won the title of "Home of Ornamental Stone in China".
In March 2019, it was listed among the first batch of counties under protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On November 20, 2020, the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region approved its withdrawal from the poverty-stricken county list.
In 2021, Dahua Yao Autonomous County achieved a GDP of 7.764 billion yuan.
