Dali County, subordinate to Weinan City of Shanxi Province, is located in the east of Weibei Plain of Guanzhong, Shanxi Province, in the confluence area of the Yellow, Luo and Wei rivers. Weihe River in the south is adjacent to Tongguan, Huazhou District and Huayin City; West around Luohe and Linwei District, Pucheng County adjacent; North along Taiyuan and Chengcheng, Heyang County border; Facing the Yellow River in the east and Yongji City in Shanxi Province. It is located between 34°36 '-- 35°02' north latitude and 109°43 '-- 110°19' east longitude, with a total area of 1800 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 2 subdistricts and 15 towns.

Dali County is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation. About 200,000 years ago, Dali people multiplied and lived on this fertile land. Since the Spring and Autumn Period, Dali has set up a state and a government. The territory now has 4 national cultural relics protection units, 9 provincial cultural relics protection units, Wei Great Wall ruins, Tang Golden Dragon Tower, Song Dai Temple Cen tower, Qing Feng Tu Yi Bin and other cultural relics and historic sites. Thirteen traditional skills, such as Tongzhou Wooden Clappers, bowl Opera, Dalibian flower and Tongchao shadow play, have been listed on the provincial intangible cultural Heritage protection list. There were born four emperors including Yang Jian, Emperor Wen of Sui, 15 chancellors including Yan Jingming, prime minister of the Rescue period, 42 generals including Zhang Qi, General Xinwu, as well as famous figures such as former Minister of Education Zhang Xiruo, iron man Wang Jinxi, and speed arithmetic master Shi Fengshou.

By the end of 2021, Dali County has a permanent population of 585,400. In 2021, the regional GDP of Dali County reached 192.46 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry was 5.965 billion yuan, the secondary industry was 4.16 billion yuan, the tertiary industry was 9.121 billion yuan, and the per capita GDP was 32,676 yuan.
