Shan County, called Xiayi in ancient times, belongs to Suzhou City, Anhui Province, which is located at the junction of Anhui, Jiangsu, Shandong and Henan provinces and seven counties, connected to Xiao County in the southeast and adjacent to Yongcheng, Xiayi and Yucheng counties in Henan Province from south to west. It is connected to Shanxian County of Shandong Province in the northwest and Fengxian County of Jiangsu Province in the northeast. With a total area of 1193 square kilometers, Xiayi County has been established for more than 2200 years. Dang Shan is called the "pear capital of the world" and dang Shan is the hometown of China. In April 2010, it was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest continuous orchard producing area. It is "the hometown of Chinese Martial arts", "the hometown of Chinese Suona", and the hometown of Zhu Wen, the founding emperor of the Later Liang Dynasty.

Dangshan County has a permanent population of 767,000 by the end of 2021. Dangshan County achieved a gross regional product (GDP) of 25.45 billion yuan in 2021, with the added value of the primary industry reaching 4.47 billion yuan, the secondary industry reaching 7.43 billion yuan, and the tertiary industry reaching 13.55 billion yuan.
