Daozhen Gelao Miao Autonomous County

Daozhen Gelao Miao Autonomous County (Daozhen County for short) is an autonomous county under the jurisdiction of Zunyi City. It is named after Yin Daozhen, a scholar of the Han Dynasty.

Daozhen County is located in the northernmost part of Guizhou Province. Daozhen is located at the intersection of Guizhou and Chongqing, at the slope of transition from Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to Sichuan Basin. It is adjacent to Nanchuan District, Wulong District of Chongqing and Pengshui Miao Tujia Autonomous County in the northwest and northeast. It borders Zheng 'an County in the southwest and Wuchuan Gelao and Miao Autonomous County in the southeast respectively. It is 180 kilometers away from Zunyi City in the south, 338 kilometers away from Guiyang City in the south, and 160 kilometers away from Chongqing City in the north. It is the "junction" of Central Guizhou Economic Zone connecting Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone, and the bridgehead of opening and cooperation between Guizhou and Chongqing.

Covering an area of 2,157 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 11 towns, 3 townships (including 1 ethnic township) and 85 villages (communities) in 1 sub-district. According to the 7th census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Daozhen Gelao Nationality and Miao Nationality Autonomous County is 243,846 people. It is known as "Qianshu Gate Screen".

On April 24, 2019, the People's Government of Guizhou Province officially approved Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County to be removed from the poverty-stricken county list.

In 2020, the gross domestic product of Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County was 7.949 billion yuan, an increase of 4.8% year on year.
