Dehua County is under the jurisdiction of Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It is located in the middle of Fujian Province and the northwest of Quanzhou City. The county covers an area of 2232 square kilometers. By 2018, Dehua County has 11 towns and 7 townships under its jurisdiction. The county government is located at No. 10, Fengchi Street, Xunzhong Town. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent resident population of Dehua County was 332148.
Five generations later, in the fourth year of Changxing in the Tang Dynasty and the first year of Minlong Qi (933), Yongtai County was separated into Guide County and Dehua County. In 1985, the Jinjiang area was removed from the prefecture level of Quanzhou City, and Dehua County was under the jurisdiction of Quanzhou City. Dehua County is characterized by high terrain and complex terrain. The landform is dominated by low and medium mountains, belonging to the subtropical monsoon climate, with an average temperature of 19.5 ℃ and an annual frost-free period of about 260 days.
In 1996, it was named "the hometown of Chinese ceramics" by the Development Research Center of the State Council, and in 2003, it was also named "the hometown of Chinese folk (ceramic) art", and was named "the capital of Chinese ceramics · Dehua". In 2015, it was awarded the first title of "the capital of world ceramics" by the World Crafts Council of the United Nations, and it was one of the three largest porcelain capitals in ancient China.
Dehua is the birthplace of China's ceramic culture and one of the three ancient porcelain capitals. More than 80% of its ceramic products are exported to more than 190 countries and regions. It is one of the ten key export counties (cities) in Fujian Province and the largest production and export base of craft ceramics in China.
