Delingha, the capital of Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, is the political, educational, scientific and cultural center of the prefecture, as well as the center of Haixi Eastern Economic Zone. It has jurisdiction over 3 subdistricts, 3 towns and 1 township, with a total area of 27,700 square kilometers. The urban area is 2980 meters above sea level. There are 19 ethnic groups including Mongolian, Tibetan, Hui, Salah, Tu and Han. According to the seventh Census data, the resident population of Delingha was 88,227 as of 0:00 on 1 November 2020.

Delingha is the Mongolian word for "golden world". Founded in 1988, there are 16 kinds of mineral resources and 65 mineral deposits found in the territory, among which the proven reserves of limestone are more than 700 million tons, with high exploitable value. The Gahai Lake, 30 kilometers south of the city, is rich in natural halogen insect resources. In 2019, Delingha achieved a gross regional product of 8,733.16 million yuan. 40 kilometers to the west of the city, Kluk Lake, rich grass carp, carp, crucian, hairy crab, shrimp and other aquatic products. There are Cypress Mountain, Black Rock Mountain reservoir, "Alien site", Huaitoutala rock painting, "Pouch Pouch Lake" and other tourist attractions.

In December 2017, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission named the fifth batch of national demonstration zones for ethnic unity and progress. On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce. On September 29, 2018, the People's Government of Qinghai Province approved and issued an announcement, approving Delingha City, which is scheduled to be removed from the poverty-stricken county in 2017. In October 2020, it was rated as the national model city (county) of double support. On March 9, 2022, the second session of the 9th People's Congress of Delingha City agreed to set Qilian cedar as the city tree and elm leaf plum as the city flower of Delingha City.
