Dianbai County

Dianbai County, formerly a county under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is located in the southwest coast of Guangdong. It was revoked in February 2014 and merged with Maogang District into Dianbai District.

Dianbai is named for the thunder and lightning in western Guangdong. The county is located on the back of mountains and faces the sea, with mountains, plains and coastal areas accounting for 1/3 respectively, of which the coastline is more than 220 kilometers long and the sea area is vast. The total area is 1855 square kilometers, of which the land area is 1840 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 17 towns. The county seat is Shuidong Town. There are 327 village (residential) committees in the county, including 293 village committees (including 8 fishing committees) and 34 residential committees. The population is relatively dense. At the end of 2007, the total population of the county was 1.356 million, of which the Han population accounted for 99.6% of the total population of the county, and the population of 38 ethnic minorities such as Zhuang accounted for 0.4% of the total population of the county. The county seat is located in Shuidong Town. In 1987, it was approved by the State Council as a coastal economic open zone.
