Dingzhou City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province and managed by Baoding City, is a city directly under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province and a key emerging regional center city in the province. For four consecutive years, it has been rated as one of the top 100 small and medium-sized cities in China with investment potential and one of the top 100 new urbanization quality. It has been promoted to one of the top 100 science and technology innovation countries in China, and has been shortlisted as one of the top counties in the county economy. It covers an area of 1283 square kilometers. By 2019, Dingzhou has 25 towns (offices) and 542 villages (communities) under its jurisdiction.

Dingzhou City, located in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei Economic Zone, is an important node city of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei Economic Zone, a national comprehensive pilot area for new urbanization, a modern medium-sized city focused on the 12th Five Year Plan of Hebei Province, and one of the top ten historical and cultural cities in Hebei Province.

By the end of 2021, the permanent population of Dingzhou City is 1.088 million. In 2021, the GDP of Dingzhou will reach 36373050000 yuan, an increase of 6.5% over 2020. In September 2020, it was selected into the list of strong counties (cities and districts) in food industry in Hebei Province (cultivation type). In December 2020, it was selected into the list of digital rural pilot areas in Hebei Province.
