Dongyang, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jinhua City, is located in the central part of Zhejiang Province, with Kuaiji Mountain, Dapan Mountain and Xianxia Ridge extending into the country, forming a landform of three mountains sandwiczed by two basins, two basins with two rivers. By the end of 2018, there were 1 5A national tourist attraction, 4 4A national tourist attraction and 1 3A national tourist attraction.

Dongyang is one of the first pilot areas of Zhejiang high-quality Development and Construction of common prosperity Demonstration Zone, National Agricultural Product Quality Safety County, National Top 100 Business Environment County, and National Forest City. In December 2020, the Academy of Social Sciences released "Top 100 County Economic Comprehensive Competitiveness", and Dongyang ranked 36th.
