Fanchang District/county, belonging to Wuhu City, Anhui Province, is located in the southwest of Wuhu City, on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, east Wuhu City in the east, Tongling City in the west, Wuwei City across the river in the north, Nanling County in the south, between latitude 30°57 '-- 31°17' north, longitude 117°58 '-- 118°22' east, with a total area of 590 square kilometers [38]. It has jurisdiction over six towns. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Fanchang District is 243,900.
Fanchang has a long history. As early as 2.4 million years ago, there were ancient human activities here. In the Neolithic period, the ancestors lived together and multiplied, creating the splendid Miudun culture. Chungu County was set up in the second year of Yuan Feng in the Western Han Dynasty (109 BC). Zhou Yu, a general of the Eastern Wu Dynasty in The Three Kingdoms Period, was once Chungu Chang. Sima Rui, Emperor Yuan of the Jin Dynasty, moved south to Fanchang. Southern Tang Sheng Yuan years after the restoration of the county, Fanchang name has been inherited. Famous poets in the past dynasties such as Wang Wei, Li Bai and Mei Yaochen once traveled here, leaving many beautiful poems. During the Liberation War, the "first ship crossing the River" of the million-strong division of the People's Liberation Army landed in China. On July 6, 2020, with the approval of The State Council, Fanchang was divided into districts.
In 2021, Fanchang District achieved a gross regional product of 36.411 billion yuan. The added value of the primary industry was 1.337 billion yuan, that of the secondary industry was 20.966 billion yuan and that of the tertiary industry was 14.108 billion yuan. The ratio of the three industries was 3.7:57.6:38.7.
