Funan County, affiliated to Fuyang City, Anhui Province, is located in the north bank of the junction of the upper and middle reaches of the Huaihe River, adjacent to Yingshang County in the east, and Huoqiu County of Lu 'an City in the southeast to the Huaihe River, facing Gushi County and Huaibin County of Xinyang City in Henan Province in the south, Linquan County in the west, and Yingzhou District in the north. The county administrative area of 1801 square kilometers, jurisdiction over 28 towns, 1 provincial economic development zone, 334 administrative villages (communities). By the end of 2021, Funan County has a public security registered population of 1.733 million and a permanent resident population of 1.174 million.

Funan has a unique location, with Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Fuhuai Expressway, Chuxin Expressway and 220 National Highway passing through. It is the national commodity grain base county, the national agricultural (forestry) circular economy demonstration and pilot county, the province's top ten forestry industry counties, the labor export county, the national poverty alleviation and development key county. In April 2020, Funan County dropped out of the list of poverty-stricken counties.

In 2021, Funan County achieved a gross regional product of 31.57 billion yuan, calculated at comparable prices, an increase of 9.5 percent year-on-year; Revenue from local general public budgets was 1.507 billion yuan, up 8% year on year; Per capita disposable income was 21,000 yuan, up 10.2 percent year on year.
