Gander County is under the jurisdiction of Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province. Gande County is located at 99°36 '30 "~ 100°53' east longitude and 33°33 '~ 34°24' north latitude. It is adjacent to Maqu County of Gansu Province in the east, facing the Yellow River and Dari County and Jiuzhi County in the south, and bordering Maqin County in the west and north. Kequ Town, the seat of the county, is 526 kilometers away from Xining, the provincial capital. County office in Dongji Township (Wu Le). At the end of 2019, the registered population of Gande County was 40,158.

Gande County terrain from northwest to southeast tilt, for the alpine mountain landform. The main river Dongkequ and Xikequ valley form two big valleys, flat and open terrain, belonging to the plateau continental semi-warm climate. Mineral deposits are rock gold, coal and so on. Wild animals include deer, musk deer, snow leopard, lynx, bear, wild donkey, yellow sheep, rock sheep, snow chicken and so on. There is a summer temple built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. The frescoes and carvings in the temple are exquisite. There are Tibetan classics such as "Kanjur", Buddhist historical books and art treasures such as "Thousand Hands Buddha".
On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce.

In 2019, the gross regional product of Gande County was 391.62 million yuan, the added value of the primary industry was 118.02 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 136.73 million yuan, the general public budget revenue was 16.74 million yuan, and the general public budget expenditure was 128.609 million yuan.
In April 2020, Gande County dropped out of the poverty-stricken county list.
