Gongjue County

Gongjue County, under the jurisdiction of Qamdo City of Tibet Autonomous Region, is located in the east of Qamdo City and on the west bank of Jinsha River, facing Baiyu County of Sichuan Province on the east across the river, bordering Mangkang County on the south, Qiaya County on the west, and Karo District and Jiangda County on the north. Gongjue County belongs to continental plateau monsoon climate, climate difference is large. It covers an area of 6,244 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, Gongjue County had a permanent population of 45,588. As of June 2020, Gongjue County has jurisdiction over 1 town and 11 townships, with the county people's government stationed in Moluo Town.

On October 19, 1950, Qamdo was liberated. In June of the next year, the Chinese People's Liberation Army entered Gongjue and Sanyan, and successively set up military representative offices, provisional or official Zong Party Committee, Zong government and Zong People's Liberation Committee. In August 1959, the Tibet Working Committee merged Gongjue and Sanyan into Gongjue County. On October 1 of the same year, Gongjue County People's Government was established. In November 2014, Qamdo was set up as a city and Gongjue County was under the jurisdiction of Qamdo City. The main scenic spots in Gongjue County include Sanyan folk scenery, Tangxia Temple, Damo Temple, Latuo "six-character truth", Xiangpi Township stone coffin tomb, Latuo grassland wetland, Awang grassland natural scenery.

In 2019, Gongjue County's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 890 million yuan. On December 9, 2019, after research by the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region, Gongjue County was approved to withdraw from the poverty-stricken county (district).
