Guangshan County is located in the southeast of Henan Province, the middle of Xinyang City, and the junction of Hubei, Henan and Anhui provinces. With Huaihe River in the north and Dabie Mountains in the south, it covers a total area of 1835 square kilometers, has a population of 930000, and has jurisdiction over 23 towns (blocks) and 364 villages (communities). It is a designated poverty alleviation county by the General Office of the Central Committee.
Guangshan, a town of wisdom in the south of the Yangtze River in the north, has emerged from Sima Guang, Deng Yingchao and other great people, and is the place where the story of "Sima Guang smashing the vat" takes place. The Beijing Kowloon Railway runs from north to south, and Shanghai Shaanxi Expressway and Daguang Expressway meet here. There are historic sites such as Jingju Temple and Purple Water Tower, red scenic spots such as the former site of Wangdawan Conference, and natural landscapes such as Dasu Mountain and Wuyue Lake. Guangshan is a national leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration county, a national grain producing county, a famous tea town in China, and an ecological charming county in China.
On May 9, 2019, Guangshan officially withdrew from the national poverty county sequence. On December 31, 2019, it was selected as a typical rural innovation and entrepreneurship county in China. On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of national health towns (counties) in the 2017-2019 cycle. On October 9, 2020, it was named by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as the fourth batch of "Green Water and Green Mountains are Jinshan and Yinshan" practice and innovation bases. In 2020, Guangshan County's GDP will reach 23.57 billion yuan.
