Guide County, under the Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province. It is located in the east of Qinghai Province and the southeast of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, with an administrative area of 3600 square kilometers. By the end of 2020, Guide County has jurisdiction over 4 towns and 3 townships, 122 administrative villages and 11 neighborhood committees. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Guide County was 105,645. Fifteen ethnic groups, including the Han, Tibetan, Hui, Tu and Salah, live in harmony, thrive and progress together.
Guide County is known as "small South of the Plateau", "Pear Town" and the provincial capital Xining City "back garden" reputation. In December 2016, it was listed as the third batch of national comprehensive pilot areas for new urbanization. On April 21, 2020, the People's government of Qinghai Province issued an announcement, agreeing to withdraw Guide County from the list of poverty-stricken counties. On July 29, 2020, Guide County was selected into the national health township (county) naming list during the 2017-2019 cycle.
