In 202 BC, the famous "Battle of Gaixia" took place in the county, marking the beginning of the 400-year foundation of the Han Dynasty and leaving behind such stories as "besieged on all sides" and "Farewell My Concubine". The "Gaixia Site" has been listed as a key cultural relic under state protection. Xu Shen, a famous Confucian scholar and writer in the Eastern Han Dynasty, once served as an official in Guzhen and wrote Shuo Wen Jie Zi, which was the first Chinese dictionary.
