Habahe County is a county under the Altay region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located at the southern foot of the Altay Mountains, the northwest edge of Xinjiang, and borders Kazakhstan and Russia in the west and north respectively. The border line is 282.6 kilometers long. It is adjacent to Burqin County and Jimunai County in the east and south. The administrative area is 8180 square kilometers. By 2022, Habahe County has jurisdiction over 185 regiments, 3 townships, 4 towns, 7 companies, 65 administrative villages and 8 communities. There are 185 regiments, 23 ethnic groups including Han, Kazak, Hui, Uighur, and 70% of them are ethnic minorities. Habahe County is one of the important nonferrous metal reserves in China. There are 32 kinds of minerals that have been discovered, especially known for the large reserves and high grade of copper and gold. The economy of Habahe County is dominated by agriculture and animal husbandry and nonferrous metal mining and dressing, and has won national honors such as National Health County and National Garden County. The national health county (township) will be reconfirmed in 2018. On October 9, 2020, it was awarded the title of the fourth batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties by the Ministry of Ecological Environment.
