Hequ County is affiliated to Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, located in the northwest of Xinzhou City, located in the center of the Golden Triangle of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Mongolia energy, surrounded by Shenfu coal field, Zhunge energy rich area, Shuozhou Industrial zone, Hedong coal field and other large industries, within the territory of Shenshuo Railway, Shuo Zhun Railway, Yellow River Longkou Bridge, Hanhe Highway, along the Yellow Road and Fugu to Hequ Road bridge and other transportation networks. Hequ County is the hometown of Chinese folk art. Hequ County is located at the intersection of grassland culture and Central Plains culture. Hequ folk songs and duet art have been included in the first batch of "National Intangible Cultural Heritage" list. Duijuwaiyan Village, Hequ County February 2 Lantern Fair was also introduced.
In 2020, the GDP of Hequ County reached 11.46 billion yuan, and the general public budget revenue reached 1.01 billion yuan, with an annual average growth of 19.3 percent. On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce. On April 18, 2019, the People's Government of Shanxi Province approved Hequ County's withdrawal from the poverty-stricken county. On January 22, 2020, it was named the National garden County by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
