Jiacha County under the jurisdiction of Shannan City of Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located in the south of Tibet Autonomous Region, between 92°14 '-93°07' east longitude and 28°49 '-29°43' north latitude. It connects Lang County of Nyingchi City in the east, Longzi County and Qusong County in the south, Sangri County in the west, and Gongbujiangda County of Nyingchi City in the north. Jiacha County is 102.2 kilometers long from north to south and 88.2 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 4,646 square kilometers.
Gacha means "Han salt" in Tibetan. Jiacha is the Tubo period of frequent activities, a Tabu area. Before 1951, it was divided into Gachazon and Rasui, which were under the jurisdiction of the Tabu Gongbu supervisor. In 1959, Gachazon and Lasui were merged into Gacha County. Jiacha County has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 5 townships, with an administrative area of 4430 square kilometers. In 2019, the registered population of Jiacha County was 22,977.
In October 2018, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region officially approved Jiacha County's withdrawal from poverty.
