Jiangda County is subordinate to Qamdo City, located in the north of Tibet Autonomous Region, east of Qamdo City, facing Shiqu, Dege and Baiyu counties of Sichuan Province on the east, adjacent to Yushu City of Qinghai Province on the north, Gongjue County on the south, Kaluo District of Qamdo City on the west, with jurisdiction over two towns, Jiangda and Gangtuo. There are 94 administrative villages and 1 resident committee in 11 townships, including Dengke, Yanbi, Kagon, Shengda, Niangxi, Ziya, Qingni Cave, Wangbuding, Deden, Tongpu and Poro, with a total area of 13,200 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Jiangda County was 92,800 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.
Jiangda is named for its location at Juepou Estuary, which belongs to an ethnic minority area with Tibetans as the main body. It is the combination of Sichuan, Qinghai and Xizang provinces (regions), and also the gateway to East Tibet. The world-famous Sichuan-Tibet Highway 317 passes through here.
In 2019, the GDP of Jiangda County reached 2.315 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% year on year.
On February 6, 2019, the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region decided to withdraw Jiangda County from poverty. China's top 100 clean water counties and cities in 2020.
