Jiangyong County, subordinate to Yongzhou City of Hunan Province, is located in the southern border of Hunan Province, with Jianghua Yao Autonomous County to the east, Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County of Guangxi to the south, Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County of Guangxi to the west, Guanyang County of Guangxi to the north, and Dao County to the northeast. It is between 110°32 '-- 110°56' east longitude and 24°55 '-- 25°28' north latitude. It is 63 kilometers long from north to south and 55.5 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 1629.15 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 5 towns and 4 townships.

Jiangyong County has the title of "Nushu culture" and "the Town of Pomelo in China". It was called Yongming in ancient times. It was established in the Qin period and has a long history. Jiangyong Nushu was included in the Guinness Book of Century Records in October 2005, and the custom of nushu was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
