Jiangze County is subordinate to Xigaze City of Tibet Autonomous Region, located in southern Tibet, east of Xigaze City and upstream of Nianchu River. Gyantse is one of the famous historical and cultural cities in China, and also a new tourist town. It covers an area of 3,800 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Jiangzi county was 68,650.

In 2020, the GDP of Jiangzi County reached 2.573 billion yuan, up 8.98 percent year on year.
On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce.
On December 9, 2019, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region approved the withdrawal of Jiangzi County from the poverty-stricken county (district).
