Laixi, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Qingdao in Shandong Province, is located in the middle of Jiaodong Peninsula. It is one of the counties and cities in coastal areas designated by The State Council as open to the outside world. The general trend of the terrain is high in the north and low in the south, low mountains and hills in the north, gentle hilly plain in the middle, and dish-shaped depression in the south. The climate within the territory is temperate continental monsoon climate, and the four seasons change and monsoon retreat are obvious. With a total area of 1568.2 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 8 towns, 3 subdistricts and 1 provincial economic development Zone. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Laixi was 720,303.

Laixi City is the transportation hub of Jiaodong Peninsula, with Qinggrong Intercity Railway, Longqing Expressway and Tongthree high-speed running from north to south, Weilai Expressway, Lanyan Railway and Weilai high-speed railway under construction running from east to west. There are 61 rivers such as Dagu River, Xiaogu River and Zhu River in Laixi City, with a total storage capacity of 402 million cubic meters of Chengzhi reservoir and Jiangshan Wetland with a total area of 25 square kilometers. The Dagu River runs through all of Lacey. In December 2019, it became a pilot unit for the construction of the national rural governance system and a national Experimental zone for integrated urban and rural Development (Jiqing Area). On December 6, 2019, it was selected as a pilot unit to promote the quality improvement of farmer cooperatives in the whole county.

In 2021, the regional GDP of Laixi was 62.55 billion yuan, with an increase of 7.363 billion yuan and a year-on-year growth of 8.4%.
