Jiexi County, subordinate to Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, is located in the east of Guangdong Province, the west of Jieyang City, the northwest of Chaoshan Plain and the middle and upper reaches of Rongjiang South River. The total area of the county is about 1347 square kilometers, belonging to subtropical monsoon climate. By 2019, Jiexi County has jurisdiction over 1 street, 15 towns and 1 township, and the county government is located in Hepo Street. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Jiexi County was 674800.

Jiexi County was originally located in Jieyang. In July 1965, Jiexi County was established with the approval of the State Council. Jiexi County is a famous old revolutionary base and hometown of overseas Chinese in the country. It is a national tourism demonstration area, a pilot county of a national ecological demonstration area, a pilot county of fiscal reform in counties directly under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, a provincial tourism demonstration area and a demonstration county of comprehensive tourism reform in Guangdong Province. It enjoys the preferential policies for the revitalization and development of the old revolutionary base in Hailufeng. Shantou Zhanjiang Expressway, Xingshan Expressway and Yongguan Expressway pass through the border.

Jiexi County has a long history and civilization. The stone tools of Xia, Shang, Zhou and Pre-Qin dynasties have been unearthed in Xiangshan, Beikenggang and Yufengding in Hepo Street, Jimadou in Wuyun Town, Chilingpu in Pingshang Town, Huweidong in Wujingfu Town, Shiniupu in Jinhe Town and Gongshan in Mianhu Town. The tombs and weapons of the garrison soldiers in the Five Ridges of the Qin Dynasty were unearthed in Chilingpu. Since the Sui Dynasty, Jiexi County has been the birthplace of Jinshan, Mingshan and Dushan culture. It has a long and splendid cultural history, a rich and unique ecological resources, and a unique Lingnan landscape charm. It is known as the "Southern Emerald" and "Eastern Guangdong Back Garden".

In 2021, Jiexi County will achieve a GDP of 26.201 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8% over the previous year.
