Jingbian County, affiliated to Yulin City of Shanxi Province, is located in the north of Shanxi Province, southwest of Yulin City, and adjacent to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Wushen Banner and Otog Banner in the north; It borders Zichang City, Ansai District, Zhidan County and Wuqi County in the south of Yan 'an. East and west respectively with Hengshan District, Dingbian County adjacent. It is between 108°17 '-- 109°20' east longitude and 36°58 '-- 38°03' north latitude, with a total area of 5088 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 1 sub-district and 16 towns.

In Jingbian history, it was called "Xia Zhou" and "Shuo Fang". Yu Wenkai, a great architect of the Sui Dynasty from Jingbian, planned, designed and presided over the construction of Daxing City (Chang 'an City of Tang Dynasty), which became an example of urban construction in later generations. Tongwan City site is the only capital site left by Xiongnu in human history. Twenty-four years of the Republic of China (1935), the Communist Party of China Jingbian County Committee and the Chinese Soviet government was established, is the second Civil Revolutionary War period of the only county-level revolutionary regime not overthrown.

By the end of 2021, Jingbian County has a permanent population of 390,100. In 2021, Jingbian County achieved a gross regional product (GDP) of 45.02 billion yuan, in which the added value of the primary industry was 3.646 billion yuan, the secondary industry 28.918 billion yuan and the tertiary industry 12.439 billion yuan. The ratio of three industrial structures was 81:643:27.6. According to the permanent population, the per capita GDP reached 115,524 yuan.
