Jinzhai County, which belongs to Lu 'an City of Anhui Province, is located in the hinterland of Dabie Mountains and the border of West Anhui Province. It is located at the junction of three provinces, seven counties and two districts. It is adjacent to Henan and Hubei provinces on the west and south sides, between 31°06 '-- 31°48' north latitude and 115°22 '-- 116°11' east longitude, with a total area of 3,814 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 12 towns and 11 townships.

Jinzhai County is the largest and most populous mountainous county in Anhui Province and a large tourist resource county. It is also the second largest general county in China. It is known as "the cradle of the Red Army and the hometown of the general", as well as an old revolutionary base area, an important source of Chinese revolution and an important birthplace of the people's army. Hewu Expressway, Shanghai-Hangrong Express railway runs through the whole territory, Ningxi Railway, 312 National road across the county; Meishan Reservoir and Xianghongdian reservoir can be navigable all year round.
