Jixi County, belonging to Xuancheng City of Anhui Province, is located in the southern part of Anhui Province, the eastern part of the mountainous area of southern Anhui Province, the junction zone of Huangshan Mountain range and West Tianmu Mountain range, the watershed of Yangtze River system and Qiantang River system, belonging to subtropical monsoon maritime climate. It borders Lin 'an District of Hangzhou City in the east, Ningguo City and Jingde County in the north, Jingde County, Huangshan District and Shexian County in the west, and She County in the south. The total area is 1126 square kilometers. By the end of 2020, Jixi County has jurisdiction over 8 towns and 3 townships with a permanent resident population of 138,784.

Jixi County is a national historical and cultural city and a national cultural and ecological protection area. It was called Huayang Town in Han Dynasty. Liang (Liang) 'an County was set up in the first year of Datong of Liang in the Southern Dynasty (535). On April 30, 1949, Jixi County was liberated and changed into Huizhou Special District. In January 1988, Jixi County was incorporated into Xuancheng District and in January 2001, Jixi County became Xuancheng City.
