Kailu County is located in the west of Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, between 120º25´ - 121º52´, north latitude 43º9´ - 44º10´, east and Keerqin District adjacent, west and Weng Niute banner, Alu Keerqin banner bordering, south and Naiman banner, Ke left back banner connected, north and Zarout banner, Ke left banner junction. The county covers a total area of 4488 square kilometers, the county flat terrain. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Kailu county was 313,364.

On April 18, 2019, the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region decided to remove Kailu County from the poverty flag. In 2019, it was listed as the second batch of national agricultural product quality safety county. In 2020, the GDP of Kailu County reached 13.09 billion yuan, an increase of 0.2%.
