Kaizhou District (Kaixian County) is subordinate to Chongqing, located in the northeast of Chongqing, at the backwater end of the Xiaojiang tributary in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, between 30 ° 49 ′ 30 ″ - 31 ° 41 ′ 30 ″ north latitude and 107 ° 55 ′ 48 ″ - 108 ° 54 ′ east longitude. It is adjacent to Kaijiang County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province in the west, Chengkou County and Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province in the north, Yunyang County and Wuxi County in the east, and Wanzhou District near the Yangtze River in the south.

In 2021, Kaizhou District will achieve a GDP of 60.027 billion yuan, an increase of 10.2% over the previous year. By the end of 2021, the total registered residence population of the district is 1669200, including 640500 urban population and 1028700 rural population.

In 2011, it was listed in the "Minsheng Industrial Pilot Park" by the Chongqing Municipal Government, and was honored as the "Northeast Chongqing Excellent Park".
