Lingqiu County, which belongs to Datong City of Shanxi Province, is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province and the southeast corner of Datong City. Its geographical coordinates are 113°53 '~ 114°33' east longitude and 39°31 '~ 39°38' north latitude. Lingqiu is a temperate continental climate.

By 2021 Lingqiu County has jurisdiction over 3 towns and 8 townships, with a total area of 2,732 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Lingqiu County was 212,771 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

Western Han Dynasty Gaozu eleven years (196 years ago) set Lingqiu County, because of the tomb of King Wuling of Zhao and named, is a county of state generation. In July 1993, the city was merged into Datong City. By 2021, Lingqiu County has 3 national and provincial roads, 9 county roads, 43 township roads and 113 village roads. Lingqiu County has the site of Pingxingguan Battle, the tomb of King Wuling of Zhao, the Jueshan Temple and other tourist attractions. On April 18, 2019, the People's Government of Shanxi Province approved Lingqiu County's withdrawal from the poverty-stricken county.

In 2020, the GDP of Lingqiu County reached 5.43 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7% year on year.
